Grinding Media
Ceramic grinding media
Ceramic beads for fine and ultrafine grinding in stirred mills.
Typically used in fine regrind and ultrafine grinding ahead of flotation or leaching, where steel media would add iron to the pulp.
Specification
Ceramic grinding media
Specifications are typical ranges. Size, chemistry and hardness are set for each application.
| Ceramic grinding media | |
|---|---|
| Size range | 0.5–30 mm |
| Media SG | 2.8–6.0 |
| Manufacturing route | Raw material → mixing and ball milling → granulation → forming → drying → sintering → finishing → quality inspection → packaging |
| Typical applications | HIGmill, IsaMill, Stirred Media Detritor (SMD) |
| Packaging | Bulk bags on wooden pallets |
| Performance factors | |
|---|---|
| Density (SG) | Higher SG media carries more energy per bead; lower SG suits lighter duties. |
| Wear and shape retention | These affect power use and product size over time. |
| Inert surface | Ceramic media does not add iron to the pulp, which may help flotation selectivity. |
Customisation
Size, material design, hardness and manufacturing parameters may be optimised within technically validated and manufacturable ranges. The aim is the right balance of wear resistance, hardness and toughness for the duty, not the hardest or most alloyed ball.
Packaging and supply
Regular communication with site and maintained stock levels reduce the risk of shipping delays reaching the mill.
Quality
The manufacturer is accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Every batch is tested against Auday's specification and the applicable international standards before it leaves the factory.
